Meet the owner: 

Sunny Bae is the main chef and owner of Daol Tofu & Korean BBQ restaurant. Mrs. Bae has over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry in South Korea, as well as in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mrs. Bae loves cooking, serving customers, and helping local communities. 

Our Journey:

Sunny Bae came to the United States from South Korea in hopes of seeking a better life for her two young children. As a single-parent, Sunny faced numerous challenges raising two children in a new country. However, she was determined to provide better opportunities for her two children and fulfill her dream of owning a restaurant in America. 

For the past 15 years, Sunny worked tirelessly at multiple restaurants and cleaned different houses, while taking on dual parenting roles at home. Although she was overwhelmed and tired, she never lost sight of her dreams and aspirations. With unwavering commitment and determination, Sunny fulfilled her dream of opening the Daol Tofu & Korean BBQ restaurant in early 2017. 

In Korean, Daol means "All the blessings will come." Sunny decided to name the restaurant Daol with the expectation of all the blessings will come if you work hard and faithfully follow your dream. Sunny takes deep pride in making various high-quality, authentic, and healthy Korean dish, and treating staff and customers like family. Until this day, Sunny continues to challenge herself to be the best chef and business owner.
